  • Have I been ripped off with my service??

    Hi All,

I have recently just had my first service done on my Versacamm sp300v. I paid £150.00 for a service inc. parts. He came down and literally opened parts of the printer, replaced nothing telling me everything is in good nik which may very well be the case as the printer has not had heavey use. turned the splatter sponge over, didnt replace the wipers which were knackerd, didnt flush the head until i told him the black did need flushing and only then he flushed the black and only the black. took my spanner which came with the machine and left me with used dampers. he also droped flush fluid on the versacamm screen damaging the paint work. His name was Mike he use to work for a company called b&P.

Ive never had a service done before but from the experience ive had i would give it a 1 out of 10.

what should I be paying for on a service??

including parts i assume being things like wipers, the sponge etc a general going over making sure "everything" is firing and working correct.
the £150 generally covers this as it can all be done within an hour or so of arriving. if you needed anything like a print head or the like then that would be extra and would possibley require a second visist if they didnt already Carry the part.

Think of a service on your machine a bit like a service on your car, but "they visit you". how far would £150 get you for your car… if brake pads and things like that neded done it would be extra.

sounds like they did not do a very good job though, especially if you had to tell them about this and that.
not sure why he would have left used dampers… ide imagine a change if they were required. not old ones.

    Price sounds ok to me.

I recently paid £280 + VAT for an engineer to change the heads on one of and Versacamms and service them both.

He traveled from Kent to West Yorkshire too for that price, I was chuffed to bits with the service I received and would recommend him to anyone.

    Cheers

    £150 bargain!

Yes, if the printer works as is… DONT MESS WITH IT!

The deal with solvent printers is when the part breaks u fix it… with regards flushing, well Dampers changed helps but your ink is always going from tank to head during the day, so it is always fresh.

Cleaning heads, wiping, etc yes those consumable items should be done but mostly done by the operator

    pay peanuts…get monkeys.

£150 is cheap by anybody’s standards considering the guy has to get there do an hour or so work and change maybe £25 to £35 worth of bits.

From the sound of it, it wasn’t really a service just general maintenance…and if it was / is a ‘new’ machine why let some unknown guy near it?

So – yes, sounds expensive for what you got…too cheap for a proper service imho.

Julian’s a good bloke and knows his onions too.

£150 is less than the callout for most people and that won’t include parts. It seems to me that people are more inclined to pay for a half day on site these days, that way they can get you to check over this, that and the other whilst on site. A half day from the freelance guys is usually around the £200 mark.
