Hi, had this machine ages and it was ready for a new cutting strip and blade so I ordered both

Meantime, the PC died so had to build a new machine. This gave a different interface for communication as the motherboard didnt have a LPT1 port. I tried to cut a few simple graphics that i had sucessfully cut before but some of the lines look wavey when they should be straight.

To cut a story short, Ive inserted the new blade and strip and then taken a test cut. Even two sides of the test square appear wavey (rear and a side as opposed to opposing sides)

Any ideas,…could it be the interface connection?

    Thanks

How have you got it connected now if it was by parallel previously but not anymore?? Do you have the right drivers installed if you have changed things about.

Are you sure the motherboard doesn’t support a parallel connection so you can configure it as it was before. A lot of motherboards have a priner header on the motherboard but nothing connected to it. Simply buy the parallel port & ribbon.

The cutter is connected currently by the serial port. It cuts a full graphic but some (not all ) of the straight lines are wavy. The crrent driver supports both parallel and serial connections

The new motherboard doesnt have parallel interface capabilities

Is the test cut not a built in machine feature? so nothing to do with interface.

Check the blade offset is correct and check the blade turns ok in it’s holder as there is a small bearing in it.

Hi, sounds to me like the ‘Offset’ is not calibrated correctly on the machine.

especially if you have just put in a new blade.

Different blades need different ‘offsetting’ to allow for the blade thickness/angle etc.

look in the setup function of the plotter or the offset (or whatever software you are cutting from if you set depth, speed etc from there) and change the offset up or down until you test square cuts properly.

    hope this helps

    Thanks for the replies

The problem existed before I swapped the blade and cutting strip.

Being as the cutter hasnt been used for a while (PC down time was a few weeks) it may be possible the bearing has gone dry so i’ll dig out some very light machine oil and see if it improves matters.

Not sure about the test being done from the machine side of settings. I was aware of the logo cut feature but havent tried this without the cutter being connected to the PC.

I’ll try all the above and let you know how I get on

again, many thanks for the help and suggestions, much appreciated
