Roland SP300v servicing costs
Posted by Damian Blackburn on 12 March 2012 at 13:08Hi all, I got a roland sp300v a couple of months ago but it had been stood not being used for months before that. My question is who does servicing in the north west? What do think it would need doing to it ie inks and heads. Any help welcome. Thanks!

Now don’t take this as a quote but if it’s been standing for a while (with inks in it) you’ve got yourself 2 dead heads (£500-£600 each plus install), possible other odds & sods such as dampers, capping station heads, flattened pinch rollers etc.
These machines don’t take kindly to being left idle / abandoned.

If it has "Ecosolmax" inks installed just fire it up and see. If it is using solvent inks then your in trouble i’m afraid.

Definitely, Mark at Optimise (based in the Sheffield area), or there’s Colin at Cetech (over Durham way I believe).
Most of the freelance engineers will travel though if you have a preference.

Just ordered the parts print heads, wipers, capping stations and dampers. Going to have a go myself. Any words of advice?

Yeah … Don’t do it ….best left to the pros in my opinion

Maybe. I have already taken the old heads out. How much do you think it would cost if I fit all the bits and got them to set it all up?

I heard he got married (again??) but I didn’t realised he moved away too. Good for him anyway. He’s a top fella.

Make sure the power cable is disconnected before you unplug the heads as the flex cable can cause a short and fry your mainboard. There’s not loads of calibrations to do but it’s just knowing what to do if things go wrong that’s the problem.
Let me know if you’re stuck at all and I’ll do my best to help you out on here.

Just an update. Got the heads dampers caps and wipers fitted. Done all the checks and shes up and running. Did have a bit of a moment though 😮 thought I had blown the main board. when I adjusted the heads I knocked the ribbon with the screwdriver and all power to head 1 went. turned out to be the fuse though. Bad feeling knowing it could be a £7 fuse or a £1200 board. now justs getting my head around colours. Thanks for the help everybody :lol1: :lol1: :lol1: :lol1: :lol1:
