Help – My Sp300V is not printing pure black?
Posted by Adam Randell on 26 February 2012 at 20:02I have an SP300V running in VW, but when I try to print an image that has pure black in, or even a pure black square it comes out blue. I have a full black cartridge in – has anyone come across this before?
i have tried printing on canvas and vinyl and get the same results, although the canvas is slightly bluer

just done a test print and the black is coming up blue. I only replaced the caps last month :/
-
are the caps shared cyan/black on that model?
are the ink caps full of ink?
-
i think what dave was getting to is the pumps may not be doing there job.
caps should just be a little moist. -
ah i see, the pic is taking a while to upload – the caps are saturated with ink.
shuold i try running some cleaning solution through? pumps doesnt sound too good :/

if the old style pumps then probably the pipe has a split in it within the pump case. can you see ink on the gears.
next depends on how handy you are with a screwdriver. -
Try to get hold of the new style pump, it’s much better, you are meant to alter the settings on the printer as well though.
you can also replace the pipe in the old pump if it’s split or it could just be blocked with dried ink.

okay so I have tried to solvent flush on a powerful clean 4 times but there is no ink going into the drain bottle.
how do i go about looking if the pump has a slip pipe?

split the capping station pipe off the pump pipe and try to syringe the ink from the capping station, if it doesn’t suck out the ink then you have a blockage in the capping station pipe. Clear this with a bit of thin wire or plastic, it needs to be flexible and blunt so it doesn’t damage the inside of the pipe, finish up with some head cleaner to dissolve the last bits.
If it’s clear then move onto the pump pipes.
Turn the pump by hand using the tool which is a tube with a flattened end. Turn the pump shaft at the front of the printer anti clockwise (I think), if ink doesn’t come out of the pipe into the bottle then the pipes either blocked or split in the pump.
I can’t describe how to remove the pump or to replace the pipes but it’ll become obvious once you get in there.Tech 8 and other companies stock replacements or tube so you can try fixing it yourself. I’d recommend just getting a new pump and fix the old one some other time, you need to get the printer working properly so it can clean itself.
I usually found that it was a blockage in the tube from the capping station as this was the lowest point so ink collected there and dried, but I’ve never had it happen yet with Ecosol Max inks

thanks for the info – massive help.
i disconnected the pipes and the ink that was in the caps soaked through so i figured it was in the lines in the pump that was blocking. So i put a little cleaning solution down the pipe, massaged it and reconnected – a couple of cleans later and the pulling it all though 🙂
thanks again guys, huge help – as ever 🙂

argh, i have cleaned the lines with solvent flush, filled the ink back up but its not pulling through the cyan and magenta now :/
-
Yeh, they do that sometimes, usually when one cartridge is a lot lower than the other.
Have you got the latest firmware in? This starts the printer a couple of times a day and clears the capping station.
