  • whats the best way to change inks?

    Hi Guys
When I bought my JV3 160S last year, the cowboy that used it wasn’t too picky about the inks he used. I’m getting to grips with printing now and I’m going to be needing to buy some new ink soon.

I’ve been told that using 440ml cartridges are much better than refillable and bulk ink systems so will be reverting back to those.

When I change over to new inks from whoever that happens to be, I’m planning on taking out all the current refillable units and giving them a good wash out with cleaning fluid then running them through with a bit of cleaner until the print doesn’t show up any ink. Then fitting the new ink carts.

Is that the best way to do it or am I missing out on something?

    Thanks for any advice.
    Jason

it is… dampers should be replaced too. Got to stop the two mixing really

yes i agree, i found the bulk ink systems not to be the best way forward.

Try doing a search on the forum, I am no expert on inks so can’t really comment myself but there have been a few posts on the subject of inks. Maybe personal choice, Dave said he doesn’t think it’s the way forward but others have said some 3rd party inks are very good.

Thanks for that Dave. I’ll get some dampers and O rings ordered at the same time as the new ink.

Its not a question of using 3rd party inks over genuine. I will probably use a 3rd party ink for cost reasons. It’s whether a bulk ink system is as good as using proper ink carts.

i have just changed from spandex jetbest ink which was costing an arm and a leg. to a more cost effective colourific ink which is a 3rd party ink and have to admit i have had absolutely no problems with it. and would recommend it.

Good luck… depends on your workload. I found while the inks were cheaper then cost of fixing the machine had risen.

I mean if the machine is not in use daily then I would not recommend a bulk system, if your printing banners each hour then the ink is always fresh in the system and moving. Maybe good option if you got two machines and what to match them.

I have run Jetbest bulk ink in my JV3 for 2 years plus without any problems at all.
