  • Contravision….. massive price gap….good for me

Guys, I won’t post the suppliers unless someone asks me, but I have been buying contravison in 1370 rolls with a 2 year life for about £1090 + VAT for a 50 meter roll sound familiar?… goos price or about normal?

Ok so a rep turns up from another company and supplies me the same but with a 4 year recommended durability…. for………….

£290 + VAT…….. Iv’e used it and it’s pretty much the same no better no worse, but I’m liking that price?

s it me or has someone been taking the rise out of me? (BTW thats the standard price on their web site, both companies for contra)

Let me know if you have been paying the higher price and I will share my supplier, because I think thats outrageous! I can price one way windows and an affordable cost now, and lets face it, it’s not the hardest product to fit is it? (on a flat window ;))

I only buy 10m at 760mm wide but I pay between 40.00 Grafityp and 80.00 metamark for Contravision equivalent. Both say only a years life though.
Go on Mo, who is your new supplier?

    I know, I know… Mo told me first! :lol1:

I am a big Fan of Metamark… There material is good, trouble I’ve found is justifying the extra cost to the End user. PE backed poster paper? Ok if its going in an A-board, but for putting in a clip frame, there are other, cheaper papers that will be just as good.

I’ve found a few suppliers for sign trays, Fret cutting, that are providing quality products for prices less than half what larger, more well known trade suppliers quote. One even gives free delivery!

Yeah you have a point there George, I think I may have got confused with indoor use, having said that, even at 2 year durability (I’m assuming that’s without lamination) at almost a quarter of the cost of Metamark matched product (and I love MM same as Dave) it’s a preferred option at the moment. I have already started to pass that saving on to my customers and seen a 400% increase in conta viz sales in the last 6 weeks compared to last year.

They also do a great range of digital wallpaper too. I’m very Mcdonalds about them at the moment…. 😀

Is it a ‘matched’ product to metamark?

I had a very in-depth conversation with my rep about their prices.

My argument was poster paper, why should I pay £140+ for 220gsm paper, when for £100, I can get a 200gsm. Customer doesn’t care either way, paper’s paper to them.

The rep pointed out that metamarks paper has a PE backing, making it more water resistant… something my customers don’t really need. So I save myself £40 a roll now.

My rep is fantastic, he knows when he can’t better my other suppliers – Like robert horne where I can collect my orders next day for free. But he did lower my prices on their MD5, and the banner material, so I am a very happy customer.

Sorry for the bump, we buy our contra vision from metamark too, I’ve found the other suppliers products have larger holes in, which can make an impact on the overall finish if the text is quite small but again, it’s the cost.

We were buying their optically clear at about £400 for 25 metres, I’ve just found another supplier with a better product (fits easier, less prone to surface scratches) for the same rate but a 50m log. – Just wished I found them before ordering 250m just before Christmas 🙄

That said, their md3 and 5 digital products are great, we’ve gone to other suppliers in the past and always ended up back with them.

I just wish they reeled out their buy a log of md5 and get one half price deal out a bit more often.
