  • Advice on opacity of Polycarbonate

I have an enquiry about framing a large piece of artwork behind polycarbonate. I am just wondering how clear the polycarbonate would be and how long it will stay clear.?
    Thanks

Good polycarb is nearly as optically clear as acrylic (99.9%) but the cheaper ones suffer from U.V. yellowing.

Buy a decent brand that has UV coatings.

Indoors it shouldn’t ever yellow though.

Also – it scratches rather easily – more easily than acrylic and it doesn’t have the ability to be polished either.

Again higher grades have better scratch resistance. The ULTIMATE polycarbonate for glazing which also has a full scratch guard coating is GM Lexan MARGARD…costs a lot, but really works.
