  • Brief Versacamm Questions Regarding RIP

    Hi All,

Sorry to be a pain in the rear, just got a couple of quick questions.

We have a Roland Versacamm VP540i

RIP wise we have an Athlon 2.3ghz machine with 3gb of RAM that i work on and RIP jobs on, rippping seems very slow, what do most of you use?

In the RIP, when people select a media profile, do they change anything under the colour managment section, like select the right preset and tick the ‘Specify Profile and Ignore Default’ box?

What PDF Version do people use when creating PDF’s to send to the machine?

Many thanks for any help you can give.

    Hi Edd.

Most RIPs have different options and what work well on one RIP won’t work so well on others. My experience is with Shiraz which will happily drive a Roland like yours but it’s down to personal preference really. Others prefer Onyx, Caldera, EFI or even flexi…

We use Roland’s VersaWorks RIP with our VS machine. We use the profiles supplied with the RIP. Most things we end up using ‘Generic Vinyl 1B’ for most things, 3 year, Metamark MD3 and poster paper.

I don’t change any of the default settings and the print results are just fine.
