Haven’t been here in a while but thought I’d post this fun lil project

With left over surplus LEDs from jobs and the test comparisons, small power supplies removed from sign removals, left over .080 scrap aluminum, 3/16" red acrylic, and 1"x1"x1" alum channels I threw together these yesterday. Some quick mini Underscore channel signs as Christmas presents to family and friends. Some I can hard wire in to kitchens etc, some I made ready to plug into the wall with makeshift disconnect switches. Wish I would have had some low voltage PS wall plug in’s but for a last minute thought, this is not bad.

Wish I would have had some low voltage PS wall plug-in units, my last 1/8" alum router bit broke and had to use a 3/16" which gave me less shape and definition for inside the letters but for a last minute thought, this is not bad.

These suckers are bright, that’s why these LEDs perform well in our tests.

    Cheers and merry Christmas everyone!

    Hi Erik

Merry Christmas to you too mate….

I like the concept of this, its a simple way of creating a shelf free-standing sign. Below is a picture of the interior of Frankie and Bennys restaurant.
you can see free standing 10mm thick foamex letters that have been placed around the restaurant on a lowered ceiling shelf. these could easily be enhanced using a strip of leds or led modules like you have used here.
i pulled this up because i liked what they had done too and often keep things like this in mind for when we get a customer that allows us to come up with something a bit different. free standing illuminated text like you say can be done reletively cheap and look that bit different.

i plan making up a polystyrene cutter to have a bit of fun with for interior sign orders i have in. again, illuminating them from the rear would make all the difference as they are varying from 1 inch to 4 inch thick. ill post some pictures up when im done…

thans for taking the time to post this up Erik, much appreciated mate.
