BMW Z4 wrap using Hexis wrapping film
Hey guys, just putting up a couple of pics of 1 of the wraps ive done this weekend. Material i used was Hexis 20000. I wanted to use 3m but theyve stopped making the material i like. So tried hexis and its been really good! easy to use, forgiving, and holds colour well. Really pleased with how its performed 🙂 will deffinatley use again.

It does go on nicely. Doesn’t always stay on so well though.

Jon, is there a reason it sometimes doesn’t stay on so well? Not having tried this material myself wouldn’t want to buy some and find it didn’t stay put where I wanted it.

It’s generally very good but not really up to stretching or recessed areas. I know they don’t state it can do that but on a lot of cars you will get areas like that. We did a 911 with it and it simply wouldn’t stay on the mirrors or the rear engine cover slatted section so we had to go with a normal cast for those bits.

it was Great , No Problems with it 🙄

We use Hexis HX20000/30000 ranges quite a lot and find them pretty much ok, only criticisms would be that it has high initial grab for an air release product and some of the colours eg orange are a bit too opaque and dont look great when applied to a dark coloured vehicle. The new carbon fibre is very nice, more glossy finish.

when you say the 3M product are we talking the 85 series discontinued or the fact it is now 1080 series and a bit more expensive? (hope i got the series correct) 😕
anyway, good to hear your finds on the hexis brand. its encouraging to read, and i must try it out soon… ive actually been meaning to for some time now.
my personal issues/worry/whatever over colour wraps is its more geared towards higher end car colour changes for the more profitable jobs. this is fine and its proving good business all round for everyone. but what warranties and the like are offered by all these other suppliers offering alternative films? i only say this because 3M appear to offer the best. and as much as thats fine and dandy, been the case for years. i wouldnt look at wrapping the likes of a bentley using anything but "not necessarily the best" but does offer peace of mind if fitted 100% correct. somthing i would like if the prospect of a £10,000 paint job loomed over me! 😕
anyway… im not being all pro 3M here, just posing the question for those reading. i know fine there are a great many reputable wraps available to us all….
all this said and done, i maintain my views over solid colour wrapping and decorative films as being the way forward in more profitable less hassle wraps. i just think when dealing with some folks "pride and joy" we should be that bit more careful on what we use to wrap. after all, it may go on perfect and easily, but how well will it come off a couple of years later when they want to trade it in?
