Any views on which brand is most suitable for laser engraving onto stainless steel – seems like the same product?
Have no response from Trodat at all – have also enquired about Alumamark (laser markeable aluminium) and left email and phone messages… they seem to have it all now ??

We use CerMark for marking onto metal when we do laser demos, what wattage laser do you have as this will have a bearing on whether it can be used or not, 40w or higher would be most suitable.

Thanks your reply, glad to have found a stockist.
We have 25W CO2 laser and from (American) pages that should be OK.

25W is perfect , the key to using these products is the coating , the best is to thin it down with alcohol and use a paasche or similar spray gun and put down a thin and even layer.
Experiment with your settings , but a rule of thumb is 100% power and speed at the wattage of your laser (25%)
Do NOT overpower the stuff , the speed/power settings are critical for a good bond.
There are alternatives to cermark , some folk use plain plaster of paris and other "formulations" for metal marking
sawmillcreek.org has a great laser section , lots of info there.
