    Hi Folks…

Having problems with black ink not curing to vinyl. Printed a large graphic which has a mixture of blacks….

Seems the rich black areas are not curing which can be scratched off with your fingernail but areas deep in black like a tyre is fine…

    JV3 160s using inktech inks & ritrama ri-jet 145. RIP is Wasatch.

Using a default profile… Could this be the problem?.

    Image attached

    Regards…

Hi. I would look at the amount of ink being laid down first. If the printer is over inking then it will take much longer for it to cure properly and therefore be a lot less durable straight away. Maybe you could try printing a single colour black i.e not made of CMYK but just K.

as Stafford says the total ink load limit is too high, looks like the image is made of bit maps and vectors some bitmaps have a very high black level made up of 4 colours where the vector is probably told to be 100%K.
normally total ink limit about 190 – 225 some old wasatch profiles are set at 400% that i have seen

Think i had it set around 290 at that print..

printed about 6m like that… is this to be thrown in the bin or will it cure over time..

was printed yesterday and still scratches off.

Will keep lowering ink levels and see how that fairs out.

Manufacturers spec is 24hr cure time, laid flat at room temperature. Obviously this is never really possible but you may find it a little more resistant the longer you leave it. Time will tell…..
