Help Sourcing Samples for a display
My theory of ‘what they see they want’ seems to be working fantastic.
Since placing a 4×2 banner in my shop front, and a few other bits of foamex, composite signs, digital print, I’ve seen a steady increase. People liking the high gloss finish of the composite, or wanting ‘that size banner’, so think the same may work for other items.
I don’t have any examples of illuminated signs, cut lettering, 3d signs. I am thinking of making a more permanent display to hopefully help with up selling.
I’ve not yet sold an illuminated, 3d, or cut lettering sign, so have no idea of suppliers. But I am interested if anyone knows of a supplier who will be able to supply some samples.
The few I have spoken to don’t really seem interested in doing it.

Was a few years ago David but I got samples from Accent Signs for moulded and flat cut lettering, got a few samples from universal as well for different types of framing, Use to have a board on the wall with some stuff on it to try and help customers, bits of foamex, plywood, composite etc stc.
Will see if it’s still knocking about and take a couple of pictures.

i made a display in our reception and found it helped sales enormously! get in touch with fabricut, speak to paul or mike, they made all our flat cut and illuminated lettering, they offer a good service at a good price, they also advertise on the uksb! they have never let me down and i have given them some silly timeframes!cheers

if you look through the sign update mag, you will find a couple of companies who offer a sample board. We have one in the shop, its got a 3d perspex letter, stanless steel, and a couple more which i cannot remember, all with leds fitted, just wire to a plug and display.
it always a good idea to get an approx price for each option, as the customer wil ask the price for 10 letters like that for example., and want the price there and then.

Ashby trade used to do a sample pack which inc panel & post, sign tray and other bits and pieces.

Not had chance to look much further into this but sent an e-mail or 2 first thing this morning, and have yet to hear back from them.

David, I don’t have a problem with email at all but I do think it is a bit impersonal. If I were on the scrounge for samples I would take the time to phone and ask, just my opinion but I think you have far more chance of picking up a few nice samples if you phone and ask nicely :lol1:

Had a nice chat with one of their reps today, as they had replied to my e-mail but I hadn’t received it so was a follow up call.
That I thought was a good start.
A few samples will be on route shortly, and getting a price for a job that I am hoping to start in the next week or two. I am hoping this is the start of better things.

They have gone and impressed me more.
They have issued a quote for the sign trays – on the advice of their rep who suggested I get them in aluminium rather than composite. They e-mailed the quote over and I was shocked,
They will supply the sign tray in aluminium with all the fixings for less than my best quote for a composite one. 😀 I am impressed.
Now lets hope I get the job 😀
