  • Trying to source a special effect vinyl, help needed?

Posted by Robert Lambie on 31 July 2011 at 14:51

    Hi folks…

i am trying to source a special effect vinyl.
it is similar to an etch vinyl, but has a rice paper veined, cracks all through it in a washed white type finish.

i think APS do something similar and will call them tomorrow. but wanted to ask in the off chance some of you know other sources?

    "similar to the attached image"

thanks a million for any help / feedback on this. 😀

Macal do a 600 series etch Robert and one of them is called ‘rice paper’ so that might be it and since Amari deal in Mactac then maybe that’s a firm to ask.

Thank you John, worth a try mate. APS are also a MACtac distributor so would make sense here.

    Hi Rob,

This looks very much like one of the films from 3M’s ‘Fasara’ range, these films come from Japan, and much like the Di-Noc range there is a huge choice of patterns, William Smiths may have some stock, and there are certain patterns that are UK stock, otherwise there will be a bit of a lead time. I’m sure Gill will give you more info if required.

the most common 3m Fasara products like this are Sagano and Yamato.
It does howqever look more like TLV21 rice paper from APS
