I currently use Metamark MD5 for all my digital Print, and Metamark Poster paper.

I have looked at MacTac, and spoken to rep’s from my supplier, and Spandex, but I never really trust sale’s reps, and seem to only tell you what they want you to know.

What would be a good alternative of Metamarks MD5. I use it for vehicle applications (not wrapping) and sign boards.

Whilst I am not looking to penny pinch as I am happy with the print results from metamarks media, I am curious to try some alternative brands to see how the compare.

I may make the move to change supplier of my poster paper though…

    opinions and advice much welcome.

Hi David i also mainly use md5 its probably one of the best..
but the oracle 3651 is very good and slightly cheaper. i get great print results with my jv33.
I’ve tried most of the competition and can’t find anything as good.
I’m shore someone will have a very different opinion..

3M 40 series is very good.

We have just changed from the 3651 to MD5 after using it for several years
because MD5 is about £40 a roll cheaper.

I use MD5 and Arlon, Arlon being cheaper even grey backed and bubble free and am led to believe it is the same face film so prints the same

    quote Martin Oxenham:

That’s what we find. Robert Horne can’t get near Metamark price with the Oracal equivalent.

Have tried the Arlon but wasn’t a fan of it.

As Jamie said the 3M 40 series is nice but we tend to stick with MD5 as it is what we know.

    Cheers

I can’t knock the MD5 or the price I pay.

I did stock MD3 & MD5 but couldn’t get on with MD3, the pennies I was saving per meter I just used it on the cheaper end jobs, and now just stock MD5. I find the matching laminate a little expensive though. But don’t want to sell good quality vinyl with a poor quality laminate seem’s backwards.

I use their MD-PP220 poster paper, I’ve looked around at other suppliers but can’t really decide if it’s worth changing.

I did try another PVC Banner supplier, but soon switched back. Went from Metamarks 500gsm PVC banner, to a 450gsm banner material, which after postage cost the same, and had an ugly join down the middle of the roll.

Now back with metamark and can’t complain.

We pay the same price for MD5 as we do the matching laminate MG700.

Might me worth getting the rep in to discuss your prices.

    Cheers
