Chinese cutter or Craft Robo?

Contour cut options please.

I want to get a contour cut cutter for T-shirt graphics, stickers and start doming ect. I don’t need a huge cutter so have been looking at the CRAFT ROBO but have seen on fleeee bay full size cutters with contour cut going for £200 new. I know they are Chinese cutters ect but do I spend more on a Robo and only do A4 or chance a Chinese cutter?

Opinion’s appreciated please.

good question that – as there appears to be a new range out that could suit this type of work. unfortunately i can’t find out how the new systems works and do they adjust the plot information to suit the total area scanned, as does the likes of roland – graphtec.
the info and answers from the uk seller is no help and can’t find the manufacturers site as that seams to alter.

Don’t think I would buy either to be honest Ian, what plotter do you have at the moment?? Sure I have read about people who used pencils or pens to align registration marks on plotters that aren’t fitted with any sort of optical device.

These are not ‘genuine’ contour cut plotters…..they just have a ‘laser’ ( aka LED) dot to help alignment.

Depending on your software you can manually align the registration marks to alow contour cutting…….this is what I do.

Ian hows your understanding of origins and positioning your designs to cut where you want them to.
John obviously has a full understanding as I (+ many others) and needs thought.

biggest problem of cutting small sheets is the lost area around the pinch rollers. also the ft and rear edges, making the cutable area quite small although this can be tricked with 3 rollers and bits of tape over the media sensors.
working with sheets has a advantage for as long as the printer prints square you have one square edge to start with

does your summa have OPOS built in?
OPOS is perfect for contour cutting decals with registration marks

No, its an old boy and no OPOS but I have had success with setting the origins.
