I have to do a couple of signs on dibond but they are bigger than my vinyl machine.
They both contain overall images which I will print in sections and laminate. My question is am I better trying to butt the sections up to each other or have a small overlap?
Which will be easier to do and last longer?

    Many thanks

definately do not but join. the vinykl will shrinke back shortly after application and leave a hair line opening, showing the colour of the board.

over lapping is best all round.

personally, i prefer a minimum of half an inch overlap, but often do a .75" overlap. i know many will use a very small overlap but i "personally" think when the overlap is larger, its less noticible, as i said personal prefernce.

i also feel the vinyl has a better adhesion with the larger overlap, which helps prevent dog-earing and the like over time.

it also helps give more play with alignment. not so much needed in a 2 peice tile but certainly does when wrapping the likes of a truck over multiple panels.

I also make the bottom piece be the first one laid down, then overlap the top.
    (for horizontal applications)
That way you don’t get a lip of rain etc laying on the sign or vehicle.
