  • Graphtec CE5000-60 Software – RoboMasterPro, Signlab etc…

    Hello people!

First off, I’m new to the forum so forgive the beginners question..

Bought a CE5000-60 2 Years back, used it for quite a while but moved house and it hasn’t seen action in 12 months or so.

Currently running Dell laptop with Windows 7

I’ve always used Robo master Pro with this plotter and in my opinion it sucks!

The problem was when i tried inserting images it tried to follow the outline of the image and was always terrible at it.

Recently I’ve been asked to do a shop sign for a friend of a friend so would like to know if there is any other software that will do the job?

Signlab would be nice but at present I really don’t have the money. All I need is to be able to copy or insert some text into the new program in a certain font (which I have been emailed) So at a guess the software would also need to let me add the new font to it. There are also 2 cats (clip art style) to go at either end of the sign.

    Can anyone PLEASE help me?

    Thanks in advance!

    Bob 🙂

Graphtec have a plug in to plot, cutting master I think, you can download it free from Graphtec.

It runs in CorelDraw or Ilustrator. You can get an older version of CorelDraw very cheaply.

    Thank you for your reply.

So I’m to download this ‘cutting master’ off the graphtec site & then run it through something like Illustrator? – I believe my friend may lend me a copy of this!! 😀

    Thanks again….

what sort of experience do you have with vector graphics if any at all? Reason I ask is because the software might be doing exactly what it has been told to do and the poor results might be down to the images you are trying to plot. If that is the case then changing to a different software package will make no difference at all.

    quote Bob Jackson:

I believe my friend may lend me a copy of this!!.

How do you mean lend? You will need a license.

As Martin asks, what experience have you with graphics? What did you use the Graphtec for 2 years ago?

Only asking as your friend of a friend may be better of going to a sign writer / sign shop. 😀

I’ve made lots of vinyl decals for bands, cars etc…
Never had a problem with Signlab when I used that at someones sign shop.

Some images Robo Master Pro worked OK on, others were very poor.

The friend of mine who may lend me the software isn’t anything to do with the sign, just helping me out with Illustrator.

The sign is for a small shop selling different clothes, candles, all that stuff.

    Thanks again!

    Hello.

I have bought a copy of Adobe Illustrator CS5 – Cost me a fortune 😐

Having problems cutting with my Graphtec 5000-60 now though.

Installed the plotter and made a simple design to test on Adobe Illu.

Problem is nothing is happening? Sure I’m making a daft mistake….

Do I need some cutting software?????

Please help a.s.a.p as I’m hoping to get a sign put up in the morning and the plotter is holding it all up now….

    THANKS IN ADVANCE!!!

I don’t use illustrator myself but I don’t think you can cut directly from it without a plug in. Sorry no idea where to get it or if it’s free but like Peter said contact the supplier of the software as they should be able to help.

If your software worked OK with some images but not others then I would think the problem is not with the software but the quality of the artwork. Just because an image is in vector format it doesn’t mean it is ready to cut. Some vector graphics need a lot of cleaning up before they are suitable for use.

If anyone could urgently shed some light on this I’d be very grateful!

    Thanks in advance….

You will need Graphtec’s Cutting Master 2 if you want to cut from CorelDraw or Illustrator.

Start here http://www.graphtecamerica.com/support/ and then navigate your way to plotters and your specific plotter and it’s there for download. From memory, the file is more than 100mb in size
