I thought it was a bit of a wind up (like tartan paint and a long stand 😀 ) but a google search for 3m Helicopter tape brings up loads of suppliers

what is helicopter tape, please elaborate? thank you….
Its a clear tape like stone guard applied to the edge of the helicopters rotors for protection – has a special adhesive to withstand the environment it operates in.. the helicopters we do operate in Laos, Western Australia, NZ and Antarctica…dust thru to ice and all in between

Hi there
The product which I have been asked for in the past is 8671 Polyurethane and is purchased through 3M’s tapes and adhesives division.
North British tapes 0191 268 6272 is the distributor that we buy from.
Hope that helps a little.

We called it blade tape in the Rhodesian Air Force… great for protecting the blades from shrapnel nicks…

Thanks everyone. I want to use it to protect my precious carbon mountain bike from stone chips. Thanks again.

Unless you are willing to purchase a large quantity (50m) I’d recommend getting some biketape from biketart. It’s genuine 3m heli tape and comes in various widths and lengths. You may even find that at the quantities you are buying, the biketape product may work out cheaper or similarly priced.

venture shield, rhino tuff or a myriad of other names it has been given over the years, but ventureshield is the brand name, can be bought from Showtrax international.
