  • I need a very sticky vinyl for HP printer, Advice please?

Posted by Rainer Schmidt on 25 May 2011 at 20:11

I have to print some images which have to stick to regular latex paint walls. All I have right now is the ‘standard’ vinyl we use for ages. That peels off almost instantly.

Any hints towards the sticky vinyl from hell for digital printers would be great!

    Thanks in advance

well he may have Dave, but he didnt say that, just it was a HP printer, and they do quite a range, Lemo wants a vinyl to stick to latex walls, which i presume means latex paint?,

Metamark do MDP-H which is a High Tack Vinyl for Low Energy Surfaces, I have to use it for anything that I need to stick to baseball, safety helmets, Polypropylene, Polyethylene and ABS… really good stuff

Thanks for the pointers. Btw… I did put up an intro now. Sorry for running into the forum and screaming for help without introducing myself.

The printer I am wrestling with is a HP Designjet 9000s.
    No latex…

The challenge I have right now is that stickers peel off from painted surfaces. Those are mostly chalky like latex wall paint. Not polished and smooth like car paint. We use cheap standard run of the mill vinyl to stick it to large wall panels we use in shopping malls as barricades. They have to come off. Which they do nicely for that particular application. Not a good thing for a more permanent application.

Looking forward to some samples of mega sticky vinyl. I bet I know already who will wrap himself into a blanket of that stuff by accident… Ha

    Cheers

    we use LG 3880 Ultratac

    http://www.lghausys.com/us/product/sign/ld3880.jsp

But it can cost a lot more than a regular vinyl

If your American in the UK then we buy this from All Print Supplies

    Dave,

Fasttyre is a material developed for the labels they apply to new tyres – next time you get a set of tyres try and pull the label off… impossible due to the special adhesive.

    Great stuff for specific applications.
