  • large banner installation, help!?

Posted by Hugh Potter on 12 May 2011 at 11:20

    hey guys,
got to put up an 8x2m (landscape) banner on the end of an industrial unit, they want to get as much life out of it as possible so I need to look at more secure ways of fixing it to the metal cladding,

screwing it on is fine but the load on the eyeletts will be quite high when windy,

    any suggestions?

i’ve no experience in the banner tension systems so am open to advice there if it’s not too costly, the banner is about £375 + installation time so there’s little point me suggesting a £500 fitting system!

my own idea was to use an ally angle, screw that (thru the eyeletts) to the cladding and sandwich the banner along the hem,

    better ideas?

    thanks guys (n gals),
    Hugh

Cladding screws with washers direct works well. Wind loading is minimal if sides are secure

You could also fix a few screws through the face at intervals. I always use screws and penny washers.

seems the simple ideas are the best then!

we have fitted a few like this as David said cladding screws with built in washer and a soft washer all built in, the wind will be fine just get it nice and tight, fit it early in the morning out the sun or if fitted in the sun will sag when cold, Rich
