    Hi everyone,

Haven’t posted in a while so thought i’d share some recent wraps with you all, starting with my own.. as usual all comments and/or criticisms are welcomed!
I decided to change the colour of my own car as, for all Matt Black is an effective advertising tool, it’s also quite popular now and i’ve grown a little tired of it as my last two cars have been wrapped this colour, and i also think being the boss I deserve something different!!
So, this is my own one off colour.. Matt Metallic Grey.. there are several Matt Greys on the market now, and BMW themselves offer a couple of models in what they call ‘Frozen Grey’ which is a good deal lighter than this, but i wanted something a little different and, if possible unique, hence it’s not an off the shelf colour and both Matt and Metallic.
The film is 3M 85 series with Controltac & Cv3.

Hi nice looking job but how did you complete this without taking the door handles out and do you have a close up of how they looked, love the colour Rich

    Hi Rich,

I just wrap the handles by putting a circular fillet in behind first, then wrap the handles last… I will take some close ups tomorrow for you, but in the meantime I have also added a post tonight showing a Gloss White BMW 5 series, and there are a couple of closer photos of the handle on this if it helps.

I have actually just picked my car up from the dealers tonight from being serviced, and they informed me it had caused chaos today with people taking photos etc, however, the most rewarding comment came from the bodyshop manager who said he’d lost a bet as he was convinced it was paint and not vinyl!.. so I’m guessing that the handles don’t give anything away!

Would like to see as it took me a while to remove ones on a Q7 and could have saved me some time but am I right in thinking you have a join here from factory,as in the plastic trim around the handle?
    Thanks and great work Rich

Yes you’re right Rich, there is a natural break in the bodylines on the 5 series so it makes no sense to remove them… on most Audis I would do what you did and remove them also, I did this on my wifes TT and then after two days her door wouldn’t open, so a trip to the garage was needed!.. but, in my defence I’m a vinyl applicator, not a mechanic!!

a friend of mine did an M3 CSL in a similar colour, an anthracite matt from orafol, looks amazing in the flesh, erm, vinyl, er, metal. etc.

    nice job!

Any chance the 3M will do more colours like this? I dont understand why the manufacturers are making so many plain colour like reds and greens in these vinyls when the more interesting colours are going to be the ones that sell.

    Absolutely fantastic. As always 🙂
I’m glad you didn’t go for black matt as you wanted before I think it’s been overdone now and with new M3 in grey matt that looks mint.
