  • Trying to source Eco friendly vinyls, advice please?

Posted by ylscoke on 17 March 2011 at 21:15

    Hi,

Does anyone know which manufacturer makes vinyl which is completely free of chlorine and plasticizers. Completely PVC free material and recyclable. We need such a material for wall decal manufacturing.

    Thank you!

doubt if such a thing is available.
    by definition vinyl is pvc
and if it was, would take more labour to remove than gained from recycling the small amount of material,
maybe look at hp latex print, nearest i can think of. They do offer to recycle some of their materials, but probably a pipe dream,
as far as being eco friendly.

Are there any downsides to using "environmentally friendly" vinyls?

e.g.If the plasticisers are left out does the film have the same performance? Why would manufacturers use these ingredients in the first place if they were not really necessary?

These are questions I would like to know in order to offer balanced and informed advice to any clients making this type of request

Looking at the spec Phill, without these ingredients these vinyls only last a year and then start to fail.

    Cheers John
