What is the best way to cut a vinyl roll which is wider then the printer width which i have?? is it okay just to use a hand saw?? or would a circular saw be okay?? I have 10 of these rolls but dont want my supplier to do it as theres quite a few.

    Thanx in advance

most suppliers will slit a 1260 (or bigger) log a couple of times for free, if they don’t, find one who does! only if you’re having it chopped up lots will there probably be a charge.

when i have to slit 1260 i have done it a few ways……

if only a few mtr i literally rolled it out and knifed it. whith 5m or so i’ve wrapped mask around where i wish to cut, then drawn a measured line around it, then hit it with a jigsaw loaded with a metal blade, not the cleanest of cut but plenty good enough if you’re thwoing the edge away anyway.

Like Hugh says most suppliers will slit for free if it’s just into 2 or 3 widths. Really is the best way to do it as you will get a perfect edge each time.

Yes you can do it the way Hugh has said and also with a chop saw if it has a blade suitable like a negative rake blade but to be honest you can cause all sorts of problems for yourself with ragged edges which can catch on things.
The longer the roll of vinyl the more difficult it is to get a consistently good cut.
