hi guys, can somebody relate to my problem
i usually use the avery/3M 7-year vinyl but i ordered a roll of this ritrama stuff and wasted about 3 metres of it because it just doesn’t weed properly. even though the pressure on the cutter is fine it just takes a lot of effort to weed, not very smooth at all

is ritrama a good make or should i just take it as a lesson?

As much as ritrama is perfectly ok, if you’re used to using 3M it’ll just seem like rubbish. Basically you’ve spoilt yourself by becoming used to the best stuff. Bit more weight and live with it is the option, that’s why it’s cheap…

Many years ago, I only used 3m, now I mainly use Ultramark. I found it the best of the cheaper options, and if the rest of the world is using cheap stuff you’ve little choice.

You say the pressure is fine, but you may need to increase it a bit, or even replace your blade and or cutting strip. Also the amount the blade is protruding can be an issue, if not enough it will not matter how much you increase the pressure, as the blade will only cut as deep as it is protruding from the holder.

its wierd because ive checked the blade and everything, protrusion and force, seems fine. the vinyl just doesnt want to come apart at the cut lines. ill try some other brands but ive never had this problem before, i even tried cutting some 3m vinyl with the same settings on the cutter and it cut and weeded fine.

if you are convinced that its cut correctly then you may be suffering from glue migration.
meaning the glue gets cut but then binds its self back together. giving the feeling that its not cut.

cut a few letters and weed immediately if easy weed. ok.
then cut some more letters and wait 30 min before weeding if it is now More difficult to weed then that’s your problem.

i did try some samples but never bought any.
image perfect is my choice of mid term vinyl
