  • Does anyone still service ‘System 48’ routers ??

Posted by Adrian Neill on 16 September 2010 at 15:55

    Afternoon everyone.

We bought-out another sign company a couple of years ago and in the sale we acquired a ‘System 48’ router. I believe these were supplied by Spandex many years ago …… i’m not sure whether anyone else supplied them ?

I know it’s a bit of a long-shot, but I don’t suppose anyone knows of anyone that can still service this or knows much about it ? Spandex don’t support these machines anymore.

Cheers in advance for any help.

Hi there …. sorry i’ve only just seen your post. That would be very helpful. Would it be ok to call you this week ??

I think it does just need a little TLC, but I wouldn’t have a clue where to start. 😮

Adrian, speaking from experience the only real TLC you can give these machines is making sure they are clean and lubricating the liner rails and bearings try ( HHS Fluid ) from wurth.

In my opinion once the electrics start playing up its not worth trying to fix them. You have to remember that the circuit boards will be around 30 years old. Rip the whole lot out and replace with modern drives ( such as geckos) and PSU. Then you will be able to use MACH3 software rather than the very limited and gerber artpath !

Once you get them sorted they are nice little machines !
