  • Advice needed on installing a wall graphic internaly?

Posted by Christopher Ward on 12 September 2010 at 19:41

Could anyone advise me on what type of vinyl to use for wrapping full walls of a hair salon with digital prints?. I presume they will need laminating?. Is application difficult? wet or dry application? recommended laminate etc?.
Various sections have to be cut out for sockets etc

    Many thanks

    Thanks for that Nicolas,
I have seen this advertised but wondered if we could print onto a special vinyl and apply without the paste? i suppose like a vehicle side or wrap?

    Hi Peter,
Matt vinyl? would you recommend a laminate? will it apply easily?

    Many thanks

its easy to apply, and like "wallpaper" does not need a laminate, matt vinyl seams to absorb the ink more, and providing no aggressive cleaners are used. should do the job

As peter says, vinyl will be fine.
Matt would look best, but i would print onto regular digital vinyl, but use a Matt "laminate".
The laminate will thicken the vinyl and make applying it easier. it may also help hide any surface imperfections due to its double thickness. (within reason)
a point to help sell the customer on paying for the laminate is that they can easy sponge down the walls to clean, prevents any sort of chemical or abrasion tacks on the print etc etc

Laminate, as Rob says will enhance the selling points, wallpaper is not and as far as I know, cannot be laminated, so matt vinyl is just as good, but laminated, even better 😀

    hi Peter,
Digital wallpaper on a fabric backed paper can have a liquid wax laminate or even a clear varnish applied !
one of the selling points is that its washable and also has a fire retardent value that can give a customer cheaper insurance !
    regards, Dave.
