Working with a Seiko 64s digital printer
Please I need help eliminating a yellow line/bleed on red print it’s not on the sides left or right but on the front side of the printer if that makes sense. I have tried head alignment but that hasn’t helped any ideas need to get this job out? Could it be a software problem?

    Hi Gary,
I cant help with your problem, but I know that several members here use seiko’s.
As you are new to forums, what I can say is that if you introduce yourself, in the "say hello" section, you are far more likely to get answers.
Do you have any pictures of the fault? and what software are you using?

Thanks for the advice will do that now. I’m using signlab 8 print and cut. Will also try and get a photo of the problem and upload.

    Evening Gary,

    I don’t have one of these machines but on our Roland I’d be checking;

    Head "cleanliness"
    Feed Adjustment
    Bi-directional adjustment
    Environment match

Basically checking/setting anything that is user "settable" that’s to do with the head.

As I say apologies that I don’t have one of these machines but sometimes the smallest idea can end up with a fix 😉

    Hi Gary,
How it looks the patterns when you’re doing a nozzle check? Can you post a photo to see how it looks the yellow line? Did you look underneath the heads for any dirt? How about those 2 small clear plastics on the sides of the head?

    Hi
Thanks for taking time to answer and all your suggestions.

I haven’t checked underneath the heads but have used a head cleaning kit, left them soaking for 10 hours.

I have tried uni-directional and bi-directional but didn’t solve problem.

We realigned the heads but the yellow is so faint even under a blue light it’s hard to see and we are now trying new rip software as I think this was part of the problem.

Anyone have any suggestions on which is the best rip software to use with a Seiko 64s? A lot of people are saying onyx.

Also any advice on tweaking colour profiles to work with third party inks?

Move the head all the way to the right where the wipers are. Remove the front bottom cover to have a good view of the heads. It happened to me a few times: after I was printing non stop for a while , on the metallic part of the head(on the sides not on the nozzles) the ink was clogged over there and it took a small hair and gave me the same symptoms. Try it. You’ll need a flash light. Try not to touch the nozzles cause are epoxy based not metallic.
Did you look at the pattern of the yellow head on a nozzle check?
Sometimes the cleaning kit will not help.
I will go with Onyx 100%.
