  • Trying this Old PC-1000 again….

I’ve been away from things here for a whilllllle and sorta give up on it all.
But i’ve been looking at this machine and thought id give it a try again.
I know this an old machine but it has worked well in the past and i thought everyone give up on drivers for it all….
Until i loaded Flexisign 8.1 the other day and seen they had a driver for it!! Hmmmmmmmm
    Well… I’m setup… and i think im close …. but it’s been so long….
that i might have forgotten something about getting this to run.
Is there anyone who might be able to let me know if i’ve got the setting right? I seem to be able to get the pen to jerk on file input but no further.
    Any help would be appreciated!!
Thanx and have a good day!!!

make sure the cutter is set for MODE 2 which is HPGL
    Mode1 is rolands proprietary language.

with the cutter set for MODE 2, any hpgl driver should work.

also, you need to go serial.
Unless you set your parralel port to SPP instead of EPP or ECP in the computers BIOS, it wont work parralel.
Pentiums and up have high speed parralel ports and the pnc 1000 cant accept data at those speeds.

it will probably work immediatly if you have a serial cable.

If you have anything better that a 33 megaherz 486 computer, you will probably need to change the parralel port mode in your computers BIOS.

When you first start the computer, you should see something like PRESS DELETE or PRESS ESCAPE to enter BIOS.
Once in, you should see a setup menu.
You should see a menu item about peripherals
You should find somthing about LPT and COMM ports.
You will see that you can switch the LPT from SPP/ECP/EPP mode.
SPP is what you want and stands for Standard Parralel port.
The other 2 are high speed ports.
If you find it and change it, you need to SAVE and EXIT.

If you bought the cutter brand new 10+ years ago, you should still have the serial cable it came with.

    Frank…..
    thanks for the info….. WOW…..
Actually…. i’m continuely working with the thing and have got the pc-1000 to print (i just have a pen in it now) and it’s off COREL 3x using a parallel.
I still need to get the ‘media size’ figured out and all but i do get a printout.
Do you have a working pc-1000? and if so what software did u run it on?
Do you have any suggestions for an economical mail output for some kind of sign making vellum. I’m just getting into this and all i have right now is the pc-1000 with some cutting pens and ink pens, C sized printing paper and of course the computer.

    HEY THANKS AGAIN!!!! 😀 😀

not a signmaker, i was in tech support for cadlink.
i have dealt with hundreds of roland calls.
    Older Rolands on newer PCs.
Nobody wants to give up thier PNC 1000. Its a real workhorse.
