  • Software advice for creation Pcut cutter?

I have purchased a graphics plotter
I think I may have gone down down the wrong road by purchasing a pre used creation ct 630 from sign w$£))(rd who have been absolutely no help in trying to get this machine to work .
If anyone can recommend some reasonable priced software which can drive this thing on windows 7 your comments would be appreciated

I take it you mean design software and not just drivers for the plotter. A lot of people on the forum seem to like and use corel for their design work. Not sure if it will drive the plotter direct or if you need a plug in though as I don’t use it myself.

Oh if you pop into the say hello forum and introduce yourself then you will find you get a lot more help.

Bill, can I suggest that , you reverse the process, go back to an older platform, xp and run an older version of vinyl master, which you can pick up just about for free (it has the drivers for the 630), if you have an older PC kicking about, other wise you will have software worth more than the cutter, the 630 is difficult to set up anyway without software /driver issues. just an idea.

WIn PC Sign works with P cuts and recent versions (2009,2010) are Windows 7 compatible.

I use Flexi Sign Pro v8.1 with my CT630 running on XP. You can download drivers at Creation’s website for free and while you’re there download also the pdf manual for instructions of how to install the drivers and USB settings.

BTW, as I am adept at Adobe Illustrator and Corel Draw I just use these to do my vectors and save/export the ai files (corel files should also be exported as ai).

Please note that tho the files will open ready to be sent for cutting I find that they are not as smooth to cut coz they produce complicated nodes. So I export the files as hi res jpg then import them at Flexisign and autotrace them. The resulting vector files have simpler nodes and therefore smoother cuts.
