Canvas prints – Stretcher Bars?
Hi, I am just starting to do canvas pics to get more work out of our mimaki.
Am just sourcing the Stretcher Bars and have found a few companies that do them – I am looking at using Picture Master they do a Fir Standard Bar that is 18mm thick and 40mm wide. What would your thoughts be on this size or are you using the larger one 38mm thick and 35mm wide. Have got canvas from Hexis and am also going to get a set of Pliers and also staple gun.
New to this and want to try and get it right first time – any advice would be appreciated.

Go for the thicker 38mm ones Tracey, the thinner ones look a bit cheap And nasty on the finished product. When I used to do them I got some really good pine bars, can’t think where from though 😕 Still got a few boxes under the bench somewhere

And go for an electric staple gun the manual ones are terrible!

Another good tip for when you do canvas prints is to laminate them after printing with a radiator roller and liquid laminate.
this protects them from scratch damage and also enhances the colours by about 5%.
Also if you are looking to make a bit more profit on them, you can charge the customer and extra cost for this around £10 for a standard canvas. -
Thanks for your suggestions guys….yep was gonna go for an electric stapler as I thought it would be alot easier!!! Had not thought about a laminate but this is definately worth looking at too.
