Extraordinary talent and genius, and a sad warning of the price of fame.
Snooker has not been the same since the era in which he played ended.
    Rest in Peace Alex Higgins.

    I agree Harry,
The early 80’s was a golden era for uk snooker, some amazing characters playing and emerging around those times, it certainly inspired me to play more competitively.

    Rip Alex.

Just found out – very sad the way his life ended. I loved his style and loved watching him play, he made snooker exciting to watch. There was a dark side, and at times he was trouble with a capital T, but without the likes of Higgins and White the game would have died the death many years ago.

His life would make a fantastic film.

    RIP Alex Higgins

And never will be the same again, very sad but unfortunately expected.

A true genius on the table and colourful character off it.

I used to play in the Luciana Snooker club in Romford in the mid-late 70’s then Barry Hearne bought it, this is where Steve Davis learnt his trade and Dennis Taylor and many other greats used to practise.

    Alex Higgins RIP

No way! I hadnt heard, truly gutted, always by far my favourite player as said snooker has never been the same since he stopped, but so sad watching his demise and turbulent lifestyle take its toll. Will never forget ‘this is your life’ and the sad time he played with a broken leg, tragic really but what a player, inspired snooker!

Hope you Rest in Peace Alex
