  • New Van ????

Posted by Denise Goodfellow on 22 July 2010 at 19:54

    Hi

We are looking for another van. we have a LWB transit. I don`t drive it too much as it is quite big. So we were thinking VW T4/T5

But having only fords, we are alittle lost.

    Is there any do`s and don`ts or bewares…. ?

Any advise would be greatly received. Been told not to have the smaller engine???

    Help.

    Thank you X

    Hi Denise

I’m pretty sure this has been covered before…

VW T4/5 I’d avoid. Not a great deal of room head height plus electrical problems.

Vw crafter, not heard a bad word.

Transit, Sprinter the way to go. I don’t own none of the above so not a great deal of advice here! All I know is a colleague of mine has a T4 and is permanently of the road!

    Matt 🙁

I am not an expert but i heard good things about VW Transporters… our transporter had not much wrong with it, 2004 plate. Great buy for us.

Also as we (and as many here) vinyl up vans, which do you see the most?

    I have got 2 transits

one old G reg Camper Van with a 1999 diesel engine and a Newish tdci 2002 Transit.

love them to bits especially the older engine.

if you can get your hands on a older transit S reg to X reg that is clean the engines go on forever and are bulletproof work horses cheap on parts

ie. manual diesel pump – £40 on the new 2002 transit model diesel pump (Electronic over a £1000)

Love VW T4s but you get loads of niggly little electric things going wrong with them, so you need a honest mechanic to keep on cancelling out the 1.5 million different warniing lights (LOL)!
VW with a few miles on the clock are more of a enthusiasts van (Surfer dude etc.) than a day to day reliable van.

    hope this helps denise.
