Machine won’t turn off-help!
Hi all, I have a problem which I don’t know how to resolve…
I had to stop the VC mid-print as the banner buckled, but it jsut showed as busy although it stopped printing. After half an hour I tried switching it off, but now all I have is the ‘power off’ and ‘set up’ lights flashing, and the message still says ‘now processing…’. This has been for over an hour now.
What should I do?
If I pull the plug will I damage the machine?Any help much appreciated (no return call from Roland as yet, then again I could wait for ever for them to get back to me!)

Have you canceled the print in the rip, lorraine.

No damage from using the power switch / plug…not any worse than a power cut…and as Peter says – make sure the RIP is stopped on the PC too.

Did you stop it by pressing the pause? If its like the cadet the first press pauses the machine, you then press and hold to cancel the print.
Not sure if its the same on a VC though?

Hello guys, and thanks for your replies.
I paused then cancelled on the printer, and cancelled on the computer. It just appears that the printer is frozen. If it’s OK to pull the plug that is what I shall do.
Up till now I have had the printer running beautifully, on the whole, with a few glitches which I seem to have ‘manouvered around’!Lorraine

This has happened once or twice with me, I ended up switching off the power, left it a few seconds then back on and on at the standby switch.
Had no problems with the printer starting back up so I presume it’s OK 🙂 -

Too right I’m scared!
I’ve turned it off & on again, as Stephen said, and it’s now merrily printing away again, so thanks again fella’s, I probably would have switched it off eventually-what else could I do! Still good to know it was OK to do though.
I hate it when material buckles up-why does it do that?

I find it helps if you spool some media off with banner vinyl. Also it is worse with reverse wound banner media.

Usually its the temperature/humidity that causes what I call cockles.
some materials are more stable than others, what are you using?
