  • Roland Sol Jet Pro CJ500 – Profile help needed!!

Posted by Mark Griffin on 26 June 2010 at 22:15

    Hi,

I am looking for some help on a Roland Sol Jet Pro CJ500. It is new to me, I bought it a couple of months ago. Great machine that tested well when I purchased it. I have since had it serviced etc. new pump etc. so works well.

The machine is fitted with CMYKRB inkset. On a test print the colours look great.

The software I am using is Easysign 4.5.

My problem is that I need help with a profile for the inkset and or material. The previous owner did recommend a machtac 5529.icc proflie but I am struggling to locate it.

The current profile I am using is making all images very dark and heavy.

Is there a CMYKRB profile available for Vinyl / Canvas etc.

If anyone can help or recommend anything I would very much appreciate it.

Also once I have over come this problem, I need to print onto canvas. Any recommendations of the best budget Canvas material for a solvent printer would also be appreciated.

    Many Thanks,

    Mark – Printstation

welcome but you need to introduce yourself in the hello forum. have not got a clue who we a talking to.
i see you did a lot of research before you bought your printer. my experience of all the crap canvas out there is they are not worth the ink.
presume that quality does not matter.

    Hi Chris,

Sorry, I have now introduced myself on the hello forum.

I am sure that if I have the right profile the machine will print great as everything else is doing as it should.

Regarding the canvas, I need to produce 300 pirate maps / scrolls. So I need my material costs down, as I had quoted it on a banner material which is cheaper. Obviously I want to take the job on without spooking the customer. Also it does not need to be photographic quality.

    well done.

this is the first printer i know off that runs RED and blue. orange and green yes. most profiles will be expecting Lm Lc as the extras.
you should speak to the ink manufactures and ask for a profile, if they can’t then you will have to pay to have one done.
the cheaper canvas in my experience cracks when manipulated to much.
when the printer left the factory it was a water based machine and has been converted to solvent use, not a bad thing. just to be aware of when changing parts. solvent ink melts a lot of the original bits,

to my knowledge the first solvent roland was a sc500. which is similar to look at. the first soljet pros came out a few years later. SC540 etc.
it is a good printer but slow by today’s standards.

might be picking your info as we are doing paper printing as well.
    enjoy
