  • Legality requirements on solicitors signage

    Good afternoon all.

We currently have a job in our system for a firm of solicitors. The sign is fairly basic with just the company name at the top and the list of people that work at the firm.

The client has come back to us and asked do they NEED to have the word ‘directors’ next to the directors name as a legal requirement ? I did want to reply "I should be asking you", but said I would try and find out .

Does anyone know whether it is a legal requirement to put ‘director’ ??

I hope you will be charging them £150+ per hour to find this out 🙄

    Classic :lol1:

    I would say NO.
For example Letterheads are considered a legal doc and would require it but on business cards it’s not a legal requirement as they are not classed as a legal document.

    But I’m no lawyer..lol

Don’t know about the sign but I believe they have to have a registered company plaque at the door.

    :lol1: ….. very good.

I think they already have the ‘registered offices’ plaque outside so this should be ok then. Thanks for your replies.

I reckon we’ll stick with it as it is and if they ever get any come-back which I doubt they would then we can add the text at a later date.

As Solicitors firms are normally partnerships and not registered companies they wouldn’t have directors anyway, would they?
