Has anyone tried using Armalex Polycarbonate plastic for the Edge as a replacement for Lexedge? I know Lexedge is a tough material to print on, and if anythings off with the Armalex things will get FUBAR’ed.

If it’s not a secret what are you using this armalex for ????
Do you think it can be used on some car seats pieces ? because people ask me this printed for their tuning cars ….
As i don’t have myself a gerber edge a friend who owns one would do the job for me …. if possible .

    thanks

I’ve tried about half a roll now and it’s worked fine so far. Client accepted that it’s thinner then the Lex Edge. Biggest "problem" has been that the material tends to curl since it’s so thin, not a big problem though.

We use it to make membranes and control panels mostly. Print on backside, laminate with a adhesive, and you’ve got a really durable membrane/decal.

Might work on car seats, if it’s leather. people snagging on the edges and tearing it off would be the biggest concern I think. We tend to use 3M 467MP adhesive as backing, comes on 305mm rolls which is ideal for armalex/lexedge. I’d try to test it first before doing it for a client.

if you want to divide the costs you can use a NITTO adhesive as backing instead of 3M product , they are very good products and way less expensive ….
ask for some sample to a retailer and you will see

for my application , the stuff would be printed on the backside with a white backing and would be sewed in the saddlery … i will have to try it before selling this to customers .Do i have to turn my car in a tuning machine ????? :lol1: :lol1:

I’m not sure how the material would react to sewing… Doubt it will work.

The 3M adhesive isn’t that expensive and works great, so I think we’ll stick with it.
