A question related to a personal project. I am in the process of restoring a GT6 which is currently on what can only be described as a skewer. Basicall the car is being rotated so I don’t have to bend my old knees to paint it underneath.
My question is relates to this:

I have fitted all new floor pans, sills etc and it is now a gleaming blue, would it be interesting or a good idea to wrap the underneath with something like ventureshield? I wonder if this would protect it further??

You know what these cars are like they only need a whiff of rain and they fall apart so just playing about with ideas at the mo??

Hi Chris, it’s a 73 car, I am also working on a spitfire when I have time so intend to do the same thing to that if it works, possibly look at doing the wheel arches under the bonnet.

Not so sure about mudflaps though?

I wouldn’t put anything on where there is the slightest chance of moisture getting trapped. This was a common problem in the 70’s when under sealing was becoming standard. Moisture got in at the edges and travelled through between the floorpans and sealing. Result was a slow rusting time bomb.
Renault 16’s were particularly affected in this way.
