    Hi

I have been asked to quote for two directional finger posts with 4 double sided fingers to be made from dibond for an agricultural show. These are to be up for two days per year. I was thinking of using a standard 76mm road sign post and clips supplied by WM Smith.

My materials costs per sign is around £160 excluding vat.

I reckon 3 hours to make each.

I was thinking around £350 each + vat + fitting.

    Any suggestions ?

    Cheers

    Adam

    Hi Adam,

I had a similar inquiry last week. Customer wanted One finger post, white background with plain black text on both sides. Pretty simple eh?

Material cost to me was in the region of €115 to €125 ex Vat.

I was at a loose end and it was a pretty straightforward job so I gave her a price of €195 plus Vat.

Wait for it………………..She told me I was TOO DEAR as she could buy it online from a UK company for £105 including delivery to southern Ireland.

That price was inclusive of UK Vat which equates to €119 total cost as opposed to my €235.95 all inclusive price.

I don’t think I was overpricing the sign but either way I hadn’t a hope in hell in beating the online supplier from the UK.

So I told her where to put her finger post……………..in a nice way of course….

    Regards,

    Darren.

    Thanks for the reply Darren.

I know how you feel mate, It is the first time I have been asked for this type of sign and I find them really difficult to price.

I think you were right telling her where to go.
