  • Vinyl peeling off!

    Hi All,

I printed 3 1cm x 7cm label’s which was printed and then each individual letter cut out. I did this as a favour for a cousin a while back, about 3 months ago. It was stuck on the car windows and the back. Recently it started peeling and the letters were falling off which I found was very worrying. I would like to know what caused this to happen.

    Thank you,

    Soyeb 😀

could be a number or reasons.

are they cut vinyl or printed vinyl? not certain from your post, very small cut letters will not have a lot of adhesive holding them on, (i’m assuming here you’ve cut small letters, stuck them onto a solid background?).

with all this frosty cold weather i’ve had a few vinyl letters ‘migrate’, as have a few other members. i simply put it down to moisture somehow getting under the letters and then expanding when frozen solid for days on end, as it defrosted they moved, some letters on my own car, on the side covered with snow for a week- moved up to six inches, mostly hyphens, dots of i’s and comma’s, never seen it before or since!

if the background bit is peeling…. did your cousin clean the car first? use silicone based polishes etc?

as i said, could be many reasons!

    Hugh
