    Hi All,

I just had a call from someone wanting a price for a print on billboard material. I’ve never used anything like this before. Can anyone shed some light onto what this stuff is and where to get some.

    Hi Chris,

What sort of paste is used for this, is it just regular wallpaper paste, someone said there may be a quick drying variety, also are any special tools needed, or is a soft broom ok?

    Any other helpful tips appreciated

    Thanks

done it a couple of times used std paste just lasted 5 weeks, which was enough for that job, that was over a 10×5 area.
the bigger ones are done in sections, and a broom you really need to watch a pro do it makes it look so simple 😉

    enjoy

Yeah, they generally don’t seem to last very long anyway, especially here in sunny Ireland!! 😮 This one is 20×10 or 48 sheet size & I think comes in 12 sections so should be easy enough to handle I would think.

    Hi Harry,

It did occur to me that maybe a paint roller may work as well as a broom, never seen one being used though.. might just take both to keep my options open eh.

the secret is to soak the paper, get a large bin bag put paste in it then insert poster. Seal the bag & shake leave in bag till you get on site (overnight). If you don’t do this then the paper bubbles like sh*t. Fitted one last year & it was a git because i didn’t soak the paper, fitter told me about soaking after wards. I used a strong wall paper adhesive but when it rained hard it came off in sheets. I have used a mix of wall paper paste & PVA to glue to a brick wall which seemed to hold up a lot better but it was only a 60" x 40" poster

    Hi Kevin,

Yes, that’s what worries me about the wallpaper paste, that I’ll fit it up then a couple of hours after there will be an almighty downpour & the whole thing will be gone!! 🙁 .

& on the soaking it in a bag, did you dip them individually first in a trough or something, as I can’t see that putting 12 sheets together in a bag with a bucket of paste would get them evenly soaked, does it?

put 3 or 4 sheets per bag, leave to soak overnight. PVA does help
