Posted by Richard Urquhart on 11 February 2010 at 15:57

Hi all been asked to quote for a job for a few signs and the customer wants to put these on cones. I have seen before an angle bracket with a hole in it and this is riveted to the sign blank and then the hole sits over the top of the cone, can any one point me to these brackets please thanks Rich

Try ASD Metal Services. They do a range of clamps for different sizes of posts so maybe a 150mm clamp for the lower part of the cone and a 76mm clamp for the upper part????
    Worth asking them 😕

or maybe Blackburns 01234 684 100, may be a wild goose chase but have always found them helpful.

Rich, at the prices shown above, I would just buy them in. hardly worth the effort to buy the brackets, and make the signs!

might as well just use heavy duty zip ties!!

what stops the sign slipping around in the wind?

To me it looks like a couple of rubber straps that are riveted on and stretched across the cone 😕

Thanks for all your help on this I have been so busy and not had time to follow up. Tim I think your onto something there and sounds the best way , doing this there is nothing that can snap off as the rubber will give.
OK next question where could I now get rubber bands that are thick and wide like this???????????????

Inner tube good idea but would need to be thicker like 3mm thick and 8mm wide and fit around 100mm and 250mm. I just want to be able to buy them in, Calling all rubber band suppliers 😮 😮 😮 😮 😮 😮

Just had a thought (yes..it hurt) try a rubber stamp manufacturer.
They should be able to cure some natural rubber to the dimensions you asked for. I kmow this because I used to be employed by NatWest and used to make all their rubber stamps. The rubber is cured on a vulcaniser so rails could be used leave space for the finished article.
