  • Help needed on the correct procedure for the following

    Hi All

This is probably a simple question but i need advise on the correct procedure on the following.

    I’m in process of making a 15ft x 3ft light box for a customer

i need to apply a fully black printed piece of translucent vinyl to go onto the two 7.5ft opal panels, i have printed the vinyl in two pieces with a little overlap to make it a little easier to apply & having to only apply to one piece at a time.

what is the best way to apply this…wet or dry? and the best method so that the vinyl is laid accurately without going off the rails so that when the opal panels join the letters on the vinyl look nice and uniform.

also being a fully black printed, what it the best way to stop and bright light showing through the black were the panels join.

we have done 100’s of light boxes in the past but always use different methods so wanted and advice to establish the proper procedure that we can always use when making light boxes

any help would be much appreciated.

and I’m using 5mm rebated panels.

    Hi, Ali,

Apply the panels from where they join, ie the left panel you apply from the right to the left, and the righthand panel from left to right. That way the join will be easy to match up.

What are you doing to make the join smooth? Some people put a strip of clear perspex at the back, but I dont like it at all. If the box is longer than my perspex (about 3 metre) I normally just print a flex face.

Also remember to leave room for expansion at the ends of such a long box.

    Cheers
    Gert
