  • Emseal laminator spares or roller reconditioning?

    Posted by OwenTaylor on 26 January 2010 at 16:31

    I have an 800mm wide Xativa Emseal (also called Centaur I think) that I use with my Versacamm. I did something stupid and laminated a pencil by accident…don’t ask 🙂

    Anyway it went through lengthways and put a dent in all four rollers. I’ve tried heating them, running thicker material through, turning up the pressure and running them for a while with no success.

    Does anyone know where I might be able to buy some new rollers or where I can possibly get mine reconditioned? Alternatively if anyone is selling a laminator of similar width I will weigh mine in for scrap.

    Many thanks,
    Owen

    Hi,

    Give Simon Dobson at Laaco laminates a ring – he recalibrated our Seal image 600 the other week. Also has second hand stock available;

    Brilliant, thanks for the reply I’ll give them a call. They aren’t a million miles from me either.

    Oh and I forgot to ask – was the pencil behind your ear by any chance?

    Been there – done that, but luckily ours wasn’t running at the time, lesson learnt though.

    No I have the laminator set up level with the end of my workbench. The pencil must have just rolled onto the vinyl as it was being dragged along the bench. It was a black pencil on black print so I didn’t notice it coming. I normally make sure there is nothing lying around but it was the first job of the day and I wasn’t concentrating.

    Luckily the pencil provided some much needed comic relief, all flattened and squashed in the middle of my print job…it was a laugh or cry situation 🙂

    Does this machine not have safety sensors? Anything in the way should have stopped the machine. Stops your fingers from getting caught up!

    There’s a guard on the front that cuts the power when it’s lifted but the pencil just went underneath it. The gap is too small to fit your finders under but just big enough for a pencil!
