  • printable silver foil/chrome vinyl help please!

Posted by Soyeb Ravat on 10 December 2009 at 21:00

I have been asked by a customer for small labels printed on silver foil. I got a sample of silver vinyl but it wasn’t printable. I was wondering if someone can tell me where i can purchase such vinyl.

I also had a thought of printing on to clear vinyl and then applying it on to the silver but the problem i had was that you could see some glue from the clear vinyl. Would anyone know if it would be possible to print on to laminate and apply that onto the silver?? I dont have a laminator and not any experience with laminating so was thinking of doing this by hand.

    Cheers. 😀

Allprint do gloss and brushed in gold and silver. Got the samples in front of me.
I’ve also printed on Silver oracal or intercoat vinyl before (can’t remeber which one) although theyr’e not as glossy

Have just found my sample too. Code TSGS3 for allprint chrome. As Mike says very glossy and it claims to have a 1-2 year external life.

    Cheers

R-tape has a printable chrome. As do the Gerber Edge though that material is only 6 months indoors.

If you print on clear and laminate over the chrome you’ll get a shading effect since the print is placed a few 0.05 mm above the chrome. Enough to give a wierd effect.
