cant beat these mate

I have the leica laser level and their products are so well made.

Which model do you have Rich?
What is the most common use for sign work?
I would find one useful for working out how high up a sign is. -
Peter I have and use their laser level. I have the floor to ceiling pole and use this when fitting dibond panels on j bars and they all need to be inline, i.e fitting a picture on one side of the room and getting it spot on the other side of the room.

I think derek needs the laser measure rather than the level to measure heights remotely

i have looked at buying one of these for a while, but unsure which one to go for as they are normally online. i spoke recently to my local Hilti rep as they do allot of them, but he coming back to me on it. i don’t mind paying a bit more to get the right one but having bought one some years ago and it couldn’t do all i wanted i was a tad disappointed because it wasn’t cheap.
What i am after is, If it is available… is…
a laser on a tripod with a sight/eye-piece. you look through the eye -piece and point the laser-dot at one end of the building/sign/whatever and press a button with that being your "start point". then swivel the head-mount of the laser to the opposite end of the building/sign/whatever and press button again when you find the finish point. this giving you the reading of the length/depth of the sign without having to climb ladders or have someone else hold a large tape with you. obviously this is for a one man site survey and would really be a benefit to have i think…the laser i had before was great in as much as you held it against the start point and pressed a button. the laser would hit the other point and give you a quick accurate reading. but unless the laser had something to actually "hit" it couldnt give the reading. (if that makes sense) by that i mean, lets say your measuring an area/space on a flat wall. "not edge to edge"
also, when signs are high up, like we had only a week ago. a cherry picker was required just to measure all the signage areas. yes this was a one off case but still…anyway… anyone using a laser like this or know of where to buy?

Yes the first link I gave was for the correct laser measure. Rich

thanks very much peter, just having a look now mate. 😉

woooo! thats amazing 😮
The D8 has bluetooth as well
It says it’s compatible with Autocad, so can you swipe the thing across and in autocad draw the level, as RIchard says to make sure a dibond tray fits well.
Who’s gonna do a demo!!! lol

quote Peter Dee:Possibly this Leica model Rob
http://www.laser-measure.co.uk/leica-di … to-d5.htmlhaving had a look, i think it maybe the D8 mate… but thanks anyway peter.
the D8 says…
360° tilt sensor
The combination of angle and distance measurements allows you to determine distances where conventional methods fail.video:- http://www.laser-measure.co.uk/leica-di … ent-1.html
this would allow the distance across the face of a building horizontally & vertically.
Dave, BUY ME the D8 for Christmas mate and ill do you a demo. 😉

Get in contact with the represntative, do a UKSG deal for advertising Rob and I might say you can borrow it :lol1:

Yeah you need to do a field test to let all of us here know if it is ideal for the signmaker as I have many hassles as a 1 man operation measuring signs etc. If there’s no where to clip your tape measure to it is even harder 😕 I passed up a nice little job the other day as I couldn’t get any measurements 😥 😳

Yes Rob the D8 is better but nearly £300 more than the D5.
360 degrees is better if close up to a building as the D5 can only go up to 45.
However, it can still measure a width or height using 3 point measurement, certainly accurate enough for quotes and access assessment.
If money was no object I would get a D8 though.Trouble is I just love gadgets.
