What spares should I carry for a used Versacamm?
Posted by Peter Dee on 26 November 2009 at 12:36Hi all, I recently purchased a used SP-300.
No problems at all with it but what items should I have on the shelf to clean/maintain/replace common failing parts?Any recommended suppliers?

All I carry as replacements are the wipers, they get changed every 3 months or so.Other than that just give it a weekly clean.
Cheers

I’d agree, for our 540 machine we just have wipers, cleaning fluid and foam swabs.

Yeh, wipers – cheap as chips.
Maybe get a spare capping station ‘cos if it goes (cracks & bleeds air) – and they do occasionally – you’ll be cursing the complete inability to clean your heads / pull through any ink. Again not that expensive – cheaper than the downtime…I hold one just in case after the last time.
Swabs & cleaning solution(s).
Other than that they are pretty solid machines.

Who would be a good/best supplier for these items? Roland direct?

Cleaning fluid and wipers from Roland, I get my foam swabs from Intertronics, the techswab ones. You do have to buy a few but they are stacks cheaper than the ones you’ll get from Roland but as good if not better than the roland ones. I prefer to have a good few in as it doesnt pay to be tight fisted we this – just use as many as it takes to do a good clean.
