I dont have the VP model but we got all our profiles from the rolanddg website,http://www.rolanddg.co.uk

Most suppliers will also have or be able to suggest the best profiles for their media.

Best quality, my guess would be use the high quality mode – dont forget to balance this against time (yes a banner will look great printed at high quality but do you want to sit and wait for it to print)

I only ever use two setting on my VP540 and it is image dependent. look in the quality tab.
If it is Vector artwork like safety signs and such i use (RIPC)Generic Vinyl 2 with a preset setting "Sign and display"
If the image is photographic I use (RIPC)Generic vinyl 2 with a preset setting of pre-press Europe. All at the standard setting, in terms of print quality setting. You will find that using this profile combination you will get a reasonable speed and a very good quality on most vinyls. The only other setting which will help if the image is giving reticulation (hammer right effect) is to turn the temperature up to either 40 Print and 45 Dryer or if the ambient temp is low 45 and 50.

I have used all of the common vinyl type with any issues. The only ones you have to watch is the cast media, as these have to be printed at a lower speed due o the surface tension of these media types and i tend to use the bespoke profiles that normally come pre-set. nd of course with a lower temp, as the media is thinner.

Btw banners at 35 and 40 and this will stop static cling to the platen.
    Hope this helps

Could anyone tell me which of the pre-loaded profiles to use for banner material please? I cannot get any profiles from the Roland site to load for some reason, I just get error messages 🙄 Obviously I’m doing something wrong ….as usual 😳

    Thanks

    Lorraine,
If you are using SignLab and the SignLab print manager you can use the update profiles button in the print manager window, the Roland banner profiles seems to do the job for me.
I’m not sure what you do if you are using versaworks, if all else fails you could try ringing Roland on 0845 2309060. Actually I’m pretty sure that someone will come to your rescue on here.

Hi Steve, thanks for taking the time to reply. I’m using Signlab to design, but Versaworks to print, and as I said before, there isn’t a banner profile set, or at least not an obvious one.
I’m waiting for Roland support to phne back, but the banner is being collect at 2pm, and it’s not even printed yet AAARGH!

Well you could try using a matt vinyl profile – print yourself a small sample and see how it comes out.
My experience of Roland call backs is that they are quite prompt.

One of my mates has a VersaCamm, and I believe he uses a generic vinyl
profile for banner, so it could be worth trying this.

I just use SPVCB: PVC Banner, think its one of the defaults in Versaworks, never had a problem with it anyway

I wouldn’t wait for Roland Lorraine, I think it depends on how busy they are as I’ve waited for a call back before and not got it till the next day. I would do it as Steve has suggested.

It’s too late now, using a generic vinyl 11 setting, all looks good at the moment! Just couldn’t wait any longer.
    Thanks anyway,
    Lorraine
