This is one for the traditional skilled artisans out there. Is it possible to get a photo etched into/onto a mirror, or are you looking at a printed film backed with silver?

Any input or advice warmly welcomed.

What I have is a client looking to have a mirror done with 3 peoples faces and some text. I believe you can sandblast through a film to produce differing tones to replicate a photo???

I believe the process you’re referring to is called "Photo Resist". I’m just starting to mess around with it some, haven’t got into doing photos yet, but soon.

    Graeme,
I used to buy from this company and I’m sure that they can either do the job for you or produce the masks to sandblast an image. I remember that the examples were pretty impressive.

Or laser etch through the silver on the back, would depend on the size of the piece of mirror I suppose.

We’ve done a nice photo like this on glass, just sprayed the back with gloss spray paint and let it dry before lasering it. If you go down the route of lasering the image isnt too much of a problem would just depend on how well the silver layer can carry the detail.
