If you can advise on the specific model, I can assist you with part numbers.

Nikolas,
Did the "engineer" look at the printer, or was his advice over the phone? If he had a look, he should be able to tell you with certainty if the scan moter is stuffed or not.
Did you get the "scan motor error 10011…..please turn off power" prompt on the printer screeen? In most cases it is ONLY the scan motor that gave up the ghost, but occasionally they do take the servo board with if they burn. You can check this for yourself. If you remove the (metal) covers around the main board, you will see the smaller servo board mounted over the bigger main board. There is a tiny little I.C. chip (about 6mm square or so) situated close to the edge of the servo board that shows black soot/burn marks around it if the servo board died.
It is an easy fix if you can source the parts. I installed both servo board an scan motor in about 30 minutes. It may be best to replace the scan motor in any event. They last appx 1500 hrs, and if yours is still working but old it just may take your new servo board out with it if it goes in a few months time! The price for both parts in Namibia was about GBP 800 with the parts going through the Namibian agent from South Africa, incl. courier cost etc. The servo board was about 4 times more expensive than the scan motor. You should be able to source the parts much cheaper in the EU methinks.

The servo board is definitely gone. Yes i had an engineer out and this is what he is saying. Servo board has burnt a bit. I’m just scared of replacing the servo board and it blowing again!?

Nikolas,
It wont blow again if the scan motor is OK. Safest bet is to replace both.
Hold on to your old servo board, and see if you can find an electronics guy who can identify and replace the faulty part. Then at least you can have a spare in stock for "next time" – which will never come IF you have a spare……..
